catch-up

So I am still not very good at blogging, forgive me.

Since my last post:

  • We moved out
  • We spent a week in Park City
  • I turned 20
  • We moved in to our new apartment
  • I went to New York
  • Steven went to California
  • We started school
  • Steven got a calling
  • We've watched too much of The Office
  • I went to the MUSE concert
  • I had toe surgery
Moving out was a hassle.  We realized we have WAAAAY too much stuff.  When we moved out, our new apartment wasn't ready for us to move into, so my parents were "thrilled" to let us store all our crap in their house.  Thanks to Steven's grandma, who let us use her time share, we had a wonderful week in Park City (even though Steven had to drive back to Provo everyday for tour team rehearsals).  We went shopping at the outlets, walked around Main Street, spent a lot of time in the hot tubs, took Nick on the Alpine Slide, and had birthday dinner with my family.  It was nice to take a week and just relax.

When we got back, we had to try and fit all of our stuff, plus the new wedding presents into our apartment.  I  guess I was born with some of my dad's talent of packing things like it's a Tetris game, because I found a place for everything.  Our apartment is small (shoebox small), but cozy.  We are starting to really like it, as we have been putting up the last of our decorations.  Hopefully I will have some nice pictures to post soon.

The weekend before school started Steven traveled to California with the tour team to compete at Embassy Ball.  He was really nervous, but the routine went great! He loved getting to go to the beach and watch the BYU game with his friends all packed into one small hotel room.  I thought I was going to have to stay home that weekend, and be bored.  However, my parents surprised me by letting me go to New York with my sister and dad!! My dad had to go for some work meetings, and Emma kept asking if she could go because that was the week of her birthday.  My parents decided if I could fly with Emma we could both meet my dad in New York for a fun weekend! It was a blast!  We saw Chicago the musical, went all over Times Square, had delicious food, went to the top of the Empire State Building, went to the American Girl Doll Factory, saw the Statue of Liberty (don't blink), visited Rockefeller Center, got lost in Chinatown, bought black market goods, and took a trip to NYU.  It was such a fun trip!

All to soon Wednesday approached and we had to go back to school.  Back to perpetually tired and infinitely busy.

I am taking a Spanish-American civilization class, Physical Science 100, the first section of the D&C, Spanish Teaching methods, Dance Teaching Methods, and Gold Bar Ballroom.

Steven is taking NOTHING.  Okay, not really, but he never has homework or class.  He is taking Gold Bar Ballroom, Dance Teaching Methods, a choreography class, a monetary theory class, and a business lecture.  Even though he doesn't have a big school load he is working 20 hours a week with American Express, as well as tutoring when ever he can fit it in.  He does so much to provide for our teeny family!

Recently Steven was called as Elder's Quorum secretary.  He gets to bring the roll every Sunday.  I am still "callingless."  But Kelli would tell me I am a visiting teacher (only because in her ward she is 1st counselor in the Relief Society, ask her how often she did visiting teaching before that calling).

We don't really go out much because we have no time.  Mostly we spend time at my parent's house eating their food, watching TV, and using their printer.  We did go to the Riverwoods Chalk the Block festival with Kelli and John Lane (a friend from dance).  It was incredible to see what some people could come up with using chalk!!  We also had Sunday dinner and movie night with Laura and Keenan (more friends from dance).  We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends!

We have recently been spending all our "free" time watching The Office.  This is my first time, it will be Steven's fifth time.

I was lucky enough to get to see MUSE live in concert and then have toe surgery.  More details on those will be coming.

Well, that's really all.  Hopefully I get better at this blog thing!

100 days.

Yesterday Steven & I celebrated being married for 100 days!
I surprised Steven with a delicious cake.  We know it was delicious because Steven had TWO pieces.
I was very proud of my cake, it wasn't quite a Kelli level cake, but it was pretty good for my first time.

vacation time.

No summer is complete without a vacation.  I got to escape with my mom to California to see Brooke & Emma compete at LADM.  I was the resident hair/makeup girl.  I was also supposed to help out with Nick.  Which I did sometimes, but I couldn't handle him for too long.  Once, after he spilled root beer all over my pants at Disneyland, I told my mom every time I spend time with Nick I add another tick mark to the number of years I want to wait before I have children.  He is a little devil, but we love him.  It was awesome to get to see Brooke & Emma do their solos.  I am so proud of them! We had a good time at Disneyland, & I was most excited when Steven got to come! It was his first time to Disneyland.  We wore him out cramming absolutely all we could into one day!!
We all invaded my aunt & uncle's house in St. George for the weekend so we could attend my cousin Lindsay's farewell talk!
Then we packed everything up & drove to Arizona.
We spent a very relaxing, hot week on the Hakuna Matata house boat with our friends the Christensen's.  It was really, really fun!!

After ripping his first frog crown he was happy to get another.
We all really enjoyed our balloon animals!
 Super Hotdog & Super Batman
Nick LOVED jumping into the pool!
 Crystal Cove was so beautiful!
He loves sand.  The second we saw sand he ran & rolled in it.
I even caught him licking the sand off his hand once...
He can be so cute sometimes!
Then  you remember he is a whiny little cuss.
(Also, I would just like to point out his face looks scarily similar to that of a Weeping Angel.)
Most of Disneyland was convincing Nick to go on the 'scary' rides so someone didn't have to sit out with him.
He ended up liking them all.
 Pixies.
He couldn't eat anything without getting it all over his face.
We tried to get a picture with Mickey 3 times.
When we finally got one, the photo lady was NOT a good photographer.
All the pictures we got were blurry.
We didn't take too many pictures in Powell.  I was certain I'd drop my camera in the lake.
Steven really enjoyed all the water sports though!!

We had a grand time & wish we didn't have to come back to real life.
(It's been a week & we still haven't unpacked. Shhh...)
